Silas Short packs a lifelong love of neo-soul, classic R&B, hip hop, and funk into 12 new songs on his debut album, LUSHLAND. LUSHLAND is a passionate record of processing a transition in his life where he journeys through great self reflection - it is a late night drive through heartbreak, fear of failure and life in a brand new city. In 2021, a defining loss inspired Silas to take a leap in search of new possibilities. He packed up his car and left Chicago. Physically, he moved to Los Angeles; spiritually and emotionally, he journeyed to a place called Lushland. LUSHLAND is filled with soulful songs rooted in '80s and '90s R&B, informed by Silas' years of playing in gospel bands with his father and an early education in hip-hop, funk, and neo-soul. Collaborators on the album include neo-soul legend James Poyser of The Roots and Soulquarians (Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, Ms. Lauryn Hill); Ryan James Carr (Usher, Cordae), Luke Titus (Kiefer) and Peanut Butter Wolf.
